The president Evo Morales announced this Wednesday the discovery of a new hydrocarbon reservoir in Rio Grande field, in the region of Santa Cruz, with capacity contribute 65 barrels of oil per day and 3.5 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd) of natural gas, according to La Razon de Bolivia.
The exploration of the new reservoir, located at 3.500 meters deep in the well RGD-102D, is in charge of YPFB Andina. “It’s a very important- yet small- new reservoir” affirmed Morales in the inspection of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant. He also announced that the exploration of project Itaguazurenda, in Santa Cruz as well, will start soon.
Hours before, in the Government Palace, the president confirmed the finding of new reserves of natural gas in Margarita- Huacaya field announced on Tuesday. The Spanish oil company Repsol and the state owned YPFB have been responsible of this discovery shared between the departments of Chuquisaca and Tarija, which potential is yet to be determined.
